A new way of life

We are living difficult times, which are testing our patience, but it is important to stay positive. The past 6 weeks of confinement have been a way for me to do many things I didn’t have time to do before. I have followed the instructions of the government and haven’t been out of my apartment at all, only once a week to a supermarket just around the corner from my place, so I have spent lots of time in my “home office”.

This time has allowed me to get back in touch and chat more wit family and friends. One of the highlights being a “zoom call” with my former teammates at Flagler College in Florida, from where I graduated in 2002. It was amazing seeing both girls and guys from the tennis teams I was a part of from 98 to 02. We also organized chats for the academy, including a nice parents’ meeting and a weekly get together with the team.

The lockdown also gave me the opportunity to dedicate more time to myself...reading a few books I always wanted to read again, including Bounce (Matthew Syed) on the myth of talent and the power of practice, Open (Andre Agassi’s bio and your 15th Club by Bob Rotella (the mental game of golf). I also caught up on series and would recommend Narcos, Suits, Casa de Papel and “the last dance” (Michael Jordan and the Chicago Bulls). In addition, I also enjoyed watching sporting events from the past, including the amazing 2008 Wimbledon final between Nadal and Federer, as well as Tiger Woods’ victory in the 2019 Masters. It also made me change my exercise routines, developing a plan of HIT (high intensity training) exercises and spending much more time working on my putting. Finally, I managed to start learning Italian, a language I always wanted to know and improved on my cooking 😜

In a way, I guess we are all getting used to this new life, but I cannot wait to get out and see my friends and family, go back to work and see the kids hit tennis balls, get back to traveling to international events and do outdoors activities, including golf of course. We are almost there!!

Take good care of yourselves and stay safe!
