Preparing for Greece

After a 5-week trip to Australia, Daniella and I came back to the academy to prepare for the next trip in Greece from the 1st week-end in March, a series of three 15Ks in Heraklion. This gave us 4 weeks to train and work on the main aspects of Daniella’s game we felt were missing in Australia for her to have more success in matches... Our focus during these 4 weeks was to get her to become a more confident and positive player, learning from the many matches she played in Australia.

The goal is for her to realise that with a positive mindset and dominating the concept of the “here and now”, it would allow her to put less pressure on herself, playing one point at a time and not let the score affect her. For this, an important work was done these past weeks with the sports psychologist on between points routines, especially on reacting in a productive way to each point.

Results to this already showed in a Catalan Tennis Federation tournament she played last week, winning matches with great attitude, including a 6-3 7-5 win against the Spanish number 20 and WTA 580. Daniella is in great spirit and we’re looking forward to going back to international competitions. She plays the first round of the qualies on Sunday, March 8th.
